2025 iGEM Competition

Introduction to iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition)

The iGEM Competition is the world’s most influential synthetic biology contest, dedicated to driving innovation in genetic engineeringto address global challenges. Established in 2003 by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), iGEM has grown into an international platform that attracts over 400 teams from more than 50 countries, including participants ranging from high school and undergraduate students to graduate researchers, scientists, and industry professionals.

Core Challenges of the Competition

Project Design and Implementation:

Apply synthetic biology techniques to design and build innovative biological systems that address real-world challenges.

Data Modeling and Analysis:

Utilize bioinformatics and data analysis to optimize project design and enhance experimental efficiency.

Human Practices (HP):

Evaluate the ethical, social, and practical implications of projects to ensure alignment with societal needs and expectations.

Commercialization and Presentation:

Transform research findings into viable commercial solutions and present them on a global stage.
